The Defectors added two more in the 5th to lead 5-2. The Defectors veteran first baseman Doug Edler lead off the 6th inning with a base hit and scored on an infield error and a fielders choice. Bill Barna's sacrifice fly to left field accounted for the second run. Pitcher Terry Gunn followed Heath with a run scoring double of his own and Kodiak lead 2-0 with none out. Terry scored on a throwing error and a home run by Bucky Roberts accounted for the fourth run of the inning.

The Defectors came back to tie the score after leadoff batter Frank Zampese got on with a single and was driven home on a shot over the fence in deep center field by shortstop Joe Marquardt. Doug Edler drove in the third run with a single and later scored on a fielders choice.

Kodiak picked up two more runs in the 2nd inning on a fence rattling double by Heath Van Dunk. They got two more in the 3rd, to take an 8-4 lead, on run scoring base hits by Ryan Morgan and Bucky Roberts.

Bucky Roberts second home run of the day accounted for two of the four additional runs that Kodiak scored in the 4th inning.

The Defectors came roaring back in the bottom of the 4th, sending 11 batters to the plate, to tie the score at 12. Kodiak pitcher Terry Gunn issued 5 walks but gave up only 3 hits, among them a 3 RBI double by Frank Zampese and an RBI triple by John Martin.

The Defectors took the lead in the 5th inning when Brian Diee lead off with a double and was driven home on a base hit by Doug Edler. Neither team scored in the 6th but in the top of the 7th;  but an RBI base hit by Ryan Morgan,  who went 4 for 4, sent the game into extra innings.

Kodiak failed to score in the top of the 8th despite a double by Heath Van Dunk (his third of the day). In the bottom half of the inning Glen Mortensen got a base hit with one out. The next batter, pitcher Craig Nielsen, also reached base with a single. Both runners moved over on a wild pitch putting the winning run on third and Jim Brady at the plate.

Jim did not disappoint. With a two strike count he singled up the middle and The Defectors were the playoff champions for the second year in a row.
